African Music & Dance Immersion
Day 1-2: Arrivals & check-ins to our guesthouse accommodations in Accra; welcome dinner with hosts; city tour- capital of Accra (walking and air conditioned tour bus); Eastern Region: Aburi mountains (wood-carving villages); Arts Market; Dr. Osageyfo Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum.
Day 3-7: Arrival and check-in to Kokrobitey accommodations; evening performance and dance class. Over the next 4 days, intensive dance and music studies.
Day 8: Journey to slave dungeons of Elmina and Cape Coast to hear oral storytellers recount the history of African slave trade; village tours; lunch & insightful conversations with African American repatriates who are now living and doing business in Ghana.
Day 9: (optional day trip = additional fee applies)- Day trips to Kumasi, the business center of Ghana! Kente-Weaving workshops; Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology; Manhyia Palace Museum and visits to Ashante goldmines.
Day 10-12: More dance, music and language classes.
Day 13:Â Leisure at your will the whole day. Â Meet your guides for an evening on the town in the District of Osu, well known for entertainment, restaurants and fun nightlife! Â Enjoy a delicious meal like banku and tilapia- fresh, grilled fish (all prepared while you wait) or do a little night shopping!
Day 14: Day of departure (breakfast included)
Tour Cost: All prices subject to change due to increase in host country fees, air-hikes. Please check with your tour director for final booking cost.
$2800 USD (without air) includes: Accommodations based on double occupancy (single rooms add $400 ), ground transport, entrance fees for site attractions, all dance and music classes as per itinerary; daily breakfast and lunch provided. Additional workshops include batik & tye and dye; beading, drum-making, and Twi language workshops.
PRICES ABOVE BASED on 14-day immersion w/double occupancy or 10-day immersion w/single occupancy. For 14-day single room, add $400.
